RIEGL LiDAR Applications on Drones
RIEGL LiDAR technology stands out for its high degree of precision which goes hand in hand with high representativeness, achieving captures at high speeds and the possibility of multiple returns (echoes), in addition to attributes such as reflectance, pulse deviation, and external attributes achieved with the incorporation of photographic cameras, allowing color to be combined with each of the captured points in the point cloud.
Recently, the incorporation of unmanned drone platforms, such as those we represent at GEOCOM in collaboration with DJI, allows for a broader perspective on geospatial capture, achieving great productivity and high representation for various applications.

Riegl LIDAR: Sensors for unmanned platforms (drones)
RIEGL offers a range of possibilities in the drone segment, highlighting the entry-level miniVUX-3UAV equipment with operational flight heights of 160m proposed by RIEGL, with laser pulse repetition at a rate of 300 kHz, precision of up to 10mm, and up to 5 returns per pulse. This is equipped with an inertial sensor for use on the DJI M300 platform.
In the next stage, the new VUX-120 and VUX-160 sensors offer a higher level in terms of LiDAR productivity and performance on drones.
APPLICATIONS IN MINING AND INFRASTRUCTURE
In mining and infrastructure applications, RIEGL LiDAR technology offers the time-of-flight measurement technique, which provides a high standard in terms of capture accuracy, as well as the level of representation achieved in various applications: mining slopes, geological structures present in slopes, representation of various types of infrastructure, such as mineral transport pipelines, industrial plants, electrical substations, and power lines, among others.
Mining: Corridor colored by reflectivity
Mining: Benches / Wall colored by reflectivity and RGB
Electrical Projects: electrical substation, power lines.
FORESTRY APPLICATIONS
In forestry applications, having multiple returns allows the pulse to obtain multiple returns and achieve maximum penetration in areas with dense foliage, making it possible to obtain the highest parts, as well as to obtain the ground line or ground topography, for various types of analysis and statistics.
