When we talk about structural monitoring, whether for scientific studies or industries such as mining and infrastructure, the natural thing is to think about data from different types of sensors that then need to be processed and analyzed.

In the context of precision geospatial positioning, Trimble offers a comprehensive solution thanks to its S-series total stations along with the data processing platform for monitoring called T4D Control. And since in many monitoring projects it is of utmost importance to have a stable, real-time data stream and analysis, communication between the sensor and the processing software becomes a key concept.

In this situation, Settop M1 is the most versatile solution to communicate and even remotely control a Trimble total station. This device offers the following communication technologies:

  • Wi-fi
  • Ethernet
  • Serial communication
  • Cellular modem

If we add the IST Connect cloud-based service, we solve the problem of needing a static IP to transmit data between the sensor and the server where T4D Control is installed.

Additionally, with Settop M1 you can configure prism measurement rounds, activate and deactivate specific total station functions, and capture ambient temperature data, among other functions.

Settop M1 will also function as a power source for the total station; you won't have to worry about powering on the instrument in the field when it loses power. Settop M1 will automatically start and continue with the programmed measurement rounds.

These and many other features of Settop M1 make it the best option for communicating data from a Trimble total station with T4D Control software.
