GEOCOM hosts ASPEMECH for GNSS and 4D Geodesy training

The training session allowed ASPEMECH professionals to update their knowledge in Trimble Business Center and 4D Geodesy, thereby improving their standards for meeting the challenges of mining property in Chile.
On December 12 and 13, 2024, GEOCOM hosted the associates of the Chilean Surveyors' Association (ASPEMECH) as part of a training course called: GNSS Data Processing and 4D Geodesy Course. ASPEMECH is a trade association whose main objective is to position, strengthen, and defend the role of Surveyors in the establishment of mining concessions and everything related to protecting mining property in accordance with the Mining Code.

The course focused on GNSS data processing in Trimble Business Center, highlighting its advantages in incorporating active reference stations and processing long baselines. In addition, concepts related to absolute positioning were explored with Trimble RTX. Ariel Silva, GEOCOM's Support and Presales Manager and course instructor, added: "Satellite positioning offers a variety of techniques, all compatible with each other, that must be incorporated as soon as possible into both the professionals' mindset and administrative elements to provide greater productivity and certainty to the different tasks where they are applied."

Regarding topics related to 4D Geodesy, the concepts associated with epoch were delved into through absolute and relative positioning, along with a description of the incorporation of a kinematic datum such as REDGEOMIN 2024. In this regard, Ulises Tello, President of ASPEMECH, stated: "Within the framework of our guild work, we consider it a priority to advance in strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experiences with public and private entities linked to the regulatory and technological development of mining, especially from the perspective of geosciences. This will allow us to jointly address key issues related to the geospatial materialization of mining concessions, thus contributing to guaranteeing the legal certainty of mining rights."
