
More background for incorporating tilt measurement into topographic surveys
Trimble ProPoint and TIP allow for maintaining accuracy in highly complex RTK observations. In this example, a topographic survey for earthwork movement evaluation can be seen. In this activity, there are some risks associated with falls at the same or different levels that can be avoided with the use of the R12i's tilt measurement functionality.

Below is a graphical representation that combines horizontal and vertical accuracy along with the pole tilt throughout the entire survey. This graph is ordered according to increasing tilt:

Almost 20% of the data are at inclinations greater than 80°, even exceeding horizontal (greater than 90°). In this data, the average horizontal and vertical accuracy is 4.9 and 5.4 cm respectively. The remaining data (inclinations less than 80°) have an average horizontal and vertical accuracy of 2.4 and 2.8 cm respectively.
