Trimble Business Center incorporates the free adjustment of geodetic networks using the inner constraints approach, which allows evaluating the network through its internal geometry (observations), thus reducing possible stresses generated in the network from the quality of the control coordinate (external geometry). To perform the free adjustment in TBC, no coordinate should be fixed from the network adjustment panel; in this case, the Datum deficiency is addressed by a coordinate relative to the network (center of gravity).
Free network adjustment can initially be used as a quality control through the application and evaluation of the chi-squared test (global test), which is used as an indicator of possible outliers in the network (reference factor greater than 1). Finally, after the free form analysis, the adjustment can be applied in the traditional way, i.e., by fixing one or more control coordinates, thus allowing the network to be positioned absolutely.
