Before beginning any surveying work, it is advisable to know the degree of uncertainty originating from the instrument used in the measurement. That is why, in this tip, we show you how to check the proper functioning of an automatic level through some field tests: spherical bubble verification, conjugated stations method, and also the verification of ISO 17123-2 for automatic and digital levels, which consists of a field procedure that, through a statistical analysis of the observations obtained, determines if the instrument meets the fundamental geometric conditions that allow optimal measurement.
All of the above helps us to be able to determine when an automatic or digital level should be sent for maintenance service and thus, be sure to obtain the best accuracies that the instrument can provide.
