Trimble R12i + DJI Enterprise | Integration with drones
Trimble R12i series GNSS receivers can not only be used as a base station for an RTK survey with another mobile receiver, but also have the particularity of transmitting differential corrections using the NTRIP protocol, which enables connection with DJI drones to work with RTK direct referencing (Real-Time Kinematic).
The link between the GNSS receiver and the DJI drone can be carried out in two ways:
- Local network connection: The drone's remote control connects via local WiFi to the Trimble R12i GNSS receiver to receive differential corrections and then send them to the drone.

- Internet connection: Both the Trimble R12i GNSS receiver and the DJI drone's remote control must have an internet connection to access the same online server. The receiver sends the differential corrections to the server and in turn the remote control, having internet, accesses the same server to extract them and transmit them to the drone.

One of the benefits of working with RTK direct referencing linked to a Trimble R12i receiver is that precise coordinates of the photographs will be obtained immediately in the field, stored in the EXIF (Metadata) of each one, thus ensuring centimeter accuracy in positioning without the need for post-processing of the trajectory (as is the case with PPK direct referencing).
With the precise coordinates saved in the EXIF, you can work directly in your processing software!
